Engineering Manager, Digital Assets
Gabriel Talent
About the Company
A global payments technology company providing fintech infrastructure, stablecoin-based payment solutions, and blockchain-based payment solutions for businesses and developers worldwide.
About the Role
A hands-on Engineering Manager for the Digital Assets pillar, focused on risk, onboarding, and compliance engineering. The team builds reliable, scalable technology supporting fraud decisioning, payment risk, transaction monitoring, risk operations tooling, customer onboarding controls, and privacy and compliance systems. Product usability and the needs of internal and external users stay central to technical decisions. This is a frontline management seat, not a manager-of-managers role. You will lead engineers through hiring, coaching, feedback, prioritization, and performance accountability, while staying technically engaged enough to guide architecture, challenge designs, and debug issues. The work sits at the intersection of controls, operational workflows, and product simplicity, with direct partnership across Risk, Compliance, Product, Security, and adjacent engineering teams.
What You'll Own
- Delivery of risk, onboarding, and compliance engineering systems with meaningful production scale and complexity
- Leading a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, feedback, prioritization, and performance accountability
- Architecture, system design, engineering tradeoffs, code quality, and incident learning, staying technical enough to challenge designs and debug issues
- Partnership with Risk, Compliance, Product, Security, and adjacent engineering groups
- The balance between effective controls and user friction, operational workflows, and product simplicity
- Production services with measurable reliability, scalability, and customer impact
- Thoughtful use of AI-assisted development, while independently validating code, tests, and system behavior
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of direct engineering people management, with clear hiring, development, and performance responsibilities
- Experience leading teams that build or operate large-scale production software, with credible architecture, reliability, and delivery experience
- Relevant exposure to risk, fraud prevention, payments, compliance, privacy, or closely related products, backed by meaningful engineering contribution and not keywords alone
- Hands-on technical depth: specific architectural contributions and a personal role in shipping systems
- Strong product judgment that balances controls with user friction, operational workflows, and product simplicity
- Clear communication of who uses your systems and how their workflows shaped your engineering decisions, including the risk and compliance tradeoffs you navigated
- Concrete evidence of what you personally drove versus what your organization delivered: teams managed, reporting structure, hiring and coaching, and major technical initiatives you led
- Direct understanding of users and products, not infrastructure or developer tooling work alone
- Engineering leadership and user-oriented product thinking, if your background includes blockchain or crypto
- Transferable engineering depth, if your background is in payments or banking infrastructure
- A stable tenure record, without multiple short stints or recent gaps
- Strong fits include fraud or risk engineering leaders (fraud decisioning, payment risk, transaction monitoring, risk ops tooling, onboarding controls), payments or commerce platform managers (payment and order platforms, checkout, transaction experiences, risk and compliance integrations), privacy and compliance technology leaders (privacy infrastructure, compliance applications, governance systems, analyst tooling), and product-oriented platform managers from high-scale backend systems or developer platforms with end-to-end product ownership
Bonus
- Personally building production AI infrastructure such as agent orchestration, evaluation systems, or workflow engines
- Multi-tenant platform experience serving many internal customers
Logistics
United States, remote. Compensation is $183K to $240K plus equity, with full benefits. US work authorization is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
