About the Role

An early AI engineering seat, building and shipping agentic product features that large banks will trust with real work, and setting the patterns and processes for the AI team as it grows. This is an individual-contributor role with no people management, reporting to a co-founder.

What You'll Own

• Building and shipping agentic product features that large banks will trust with real work
• Architecture decisions that balance performance, cost, and maintainability
• Agent infrastructure: evals, guardrails, tool integrations, and observability
• Backend APIs in Python (Django or FastAPI) and AWS infrastructure, working with product engineers on the UI
• Patterns and processes for the AI team as it grows
• Evaluating new AI tools, models, and techniques for the product
  
  

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of production backend experience
• LLM-powered features shipped to production
• Hands-on experience with frontier models, including prompting, tool use, and context management
• Agentic systems you have made production-ready, including evals, guardrails, observability, and failure handling
• Work owned from concept to production on a small team
• End-to-end AI systems built in production, ideally with evaluations. A move into AI from traditional ML is welcome, since depth of AI experience matters more than years.
• Meaningful experience with outsized ownership. Employer pedigree is not the bar.
• A production-building orientation, not a research or model-tuning profile
• A stable track record, without a pattern of changing roles every 6 to 12 months
• A collaborative focus on the team's mission, with real curiosity about context
  
  

Logistics

New York City, in person. Candidates based in New York are strongly preferred, with some flexibility for exceptional candidates. Compensation is $210K to $250K plus equity. Visa sponsorship is generally not available, though it may be considered for the right fit.
