About the Role

This is the first dedicated security hire under the Head of Security: a hands-on Security Engineer owning identity and endpoint security across the company. Day to day, this blends IT operations, process, and tool building, making sure the right people have the right access, company devices meet a consistent security baseline, and new tools (including AI integrations) are adopted with a clear read on their risks. You'll run the day-to-day systems, respond when something looks wrong, and build the access reviews, standards, and processes the company needs as it scales.

What You'll Own

• Administering the identity provider and SSO, enforcing MFA and phishing-resistant authentication, and improving how access is granted and removed
• Periodic access reviews and least-privilege enforcement across critical systems, including provisioning and offboarding
• MDM and EDR coverage across the device fleet, with clear configuration standards and security baselines
• Device provisioning, access requests, and the IT work that keeps the team operating securely, automating repetitive workflows where you can
• Partnering on vendor risk assessments, including evaluating new SaaS tools and AI integrations before adoption
• Acting as first responder for identity and endpoint incidents: investigating, containing, documenting, and escalating
• Helping define and maintain security policy as the program matures

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience operating an enterprise identity platform (SSO, MFA, access policies)
• Experience managing MDM and EDR tooling across a device fleet
• Real experience responding to security incidents, compromises, or suspected breaches
• The ability to assess vendor and integration risk, including risk introduced by AI tools
• Scripting ability in Python or Bash for automation and basic tooling
• Strong written communication and the judgment to work independently
• This team specifically wants someone who has helped build an identity and endpoint security function early at a startup, including the messy work of getting coverage and adoption across a team, not someone who has only run a mature, already-established enterprise security program
• Bonus: blockchain or Web3 threat experience (a nice-to-have, not a filter), cloud security, SIEM, or detection engineering, or experience using AI agents in security operations

Logistics

US or Europe, fully remote. This is banded as an L2 or L3 engineering role. Compensation is $175K to $220K plus equity.
