How SohamRecruit compares to other ATS products — features and pricing
An honest side-by-side of SohamRecruit and the four common ATS archetypes — enterprise in-house, agency-focused legacy, modern mid-market, and budget AI-first. Features, pricing, and where each one fits.
Most ATS comparison pages are written by ATS vendors. Ours is no different — but we will try to be honest about it. This post lays out where SohamRecruit fits relative to the four common ATS archetypes you will see when you start shopping. We do not name specific competitors. You can fill in the names mentally.
By the end, you should know if SohamRecruit is the right product for your agency — or if one of the other archetypes is a better fit.
The four ATS archetypes
Almost every ATS in 2026 falls into one of these buckets:
A. Enterprise in-house ATS. Built for the in-house HR team at a 500-to-50,000-employee company. You see them on every "best ATS" list. Deep integrations, SOC 2, polished UX, sales-led buying. Not built for recruitment agencies.
B. Agency-focused legacy ATS. Built in the late 2000s for staffing firms. CRM-heavy, contractor-and-placement-fee aware. The dominant player in many markets. Dated interface, but the data model fits agency work.
C. Modern mid-market ATS. Built post-2015. Cleaner UX than the legacy agency products, but breadth not depth — they serve both in-house teams and small agencies with the same product.
D. Budget AI-first ATS. Built post-2020, "AI" front and centre on the marketing site. Cheap by the seat. Often light on compliance, support, and depth of integrations.
E. SohamRecruit. What we are. Built for small recruitment agencies, India-first, every feature on every tier, real free tier. The closest comparison is the budget AI-first archetype, but priced cheaper, with deeper compliance posture and a real client portal.

| Compliance | Excellent (SOC 2) | Solid | Mixed | Light | GDPR + PDPA + DPDP + CCPA (no SOC 2 yet) |
| Integrations | Deep (LinkedIn Recruiter, Slack, SF, Workday) | Wide but dated | Moderate (LinkedIn, Indeed, Slack) | Light | Gmail / Outlook / WhatsApp / LinkedIn / desktop |

A few notes on the pricing landscape
- Enterprise prices are list, not what you actually pay. Real deals come with discounts, but they also come with annual contracts, implementation fees, and per-add-on tier-ups.
- Agency-focused legacy products usually price annually, not monthly. You sign for the year. Cancellation in mid-contract is rare.
- Modern mid-market products sometimes price as flat-rate (e.g. $399/mo all-in for 5 users) and sometimes per seat. Read the fine print.
- Budget AI-first products are often cheap per seat but cap candidates, jobs, or AI usage on the lower tiers.
- SohamRecruit is genuinely cheap. That is the India price translated to USD at current exchange rates. We are not yet selling actively into US/EU/SG — Stripe billing is in development — so the international experience is "billed in INR via Razorpay" for now.
Where SohamRecruit wins
- Price. You will not find a paid ATS this cheap from a vendor whose product is this complete. ₹399 (~$5) per seat per month is below the cost floor most US-built ATSes can afford.
- Real free tier. 2 seats, no candidate cap, AI included. Most "free tiers" elsewhere are 50-candidate demos.
- WhatsApp as a first-class candidate channel. Almost no other ATS treats WhatsApp this seriously. For India and SE Asia recruiting, this alone is the deciding factor.
- Client portal that does not embarrass you. Two-mode design (anonymous token + authenticated client accounts), AI client briefs, side-by-side candidate compare.
- Every feature at every tier. No "Contact Sales for SSO" or "Audit log: Enterprise only." If we built it, it is in the free tier too.
- Cancel in one click. No sales call to leave.
Where SohamRecruit loses
We will be honest:
- Not SOC 2 certified. Some of your larger enterprise clients will block the purchase for that reason alone. Path to SOC 2 is on the roadmap but not in production. If you sell to Fortune 500 / financial-services, this is a real blocker.
- No native Stripe / USD billing yet. We are India-first. Billing today is INR via Razorpay. Stripe / USD / SGD billing is in development. If you can pay in INR via Razorpay, this is fine; if not, you are early.
- Long-tail integrations are thin. Salesforce, Slack, Workday, BambooHR, ADP, Indeed-API direct posting — these are not yet built. If your agency has a deep existing stack, our integration breadth is behind the modern mid-market products.
- English-only UI. No Spanish, Portuguese, French, Mandarin, or Hindi UI. Multi-language is on the roadmap but not in 2026.
- No mobile app. Web is fully responsive; native iOS / Android apps are not built.
- Smaller community. We are early. You will not find 50 YouTube tutorials about how to use SohamRecruit. Documentation is solid but not exhaustive.
Who SohamRecruit is NOT for
To save you the trial:
- In-house corporate hiring teams. The whole "client company" data model is wrong for you. Use an enterprise in-house ATS.
- Agencies serving Fortune 500 only. You will need SOC 2 documentation in your vendor due-diligence packet. We do not have it yet.
- Agencies with 50+ seats. Our product is tuned for the 2-to-20-seat operator. We can scale further, but the integrations and ergonomics are designed for small teams.
- Agencies who want a Bullhorn-clone. If your existing workflow is deeply tied to a legacy agency CRM, the cost of switching may exceed the savings.
Who SohamRecruit IS for
- Small recruitment agencies — 2 to 20 seats.
- Indian recruitment agencies doing the bulk of their work in India, with INR-priced billing as a feature not a bug.
- Agencies serving SE Asia — Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam — from a regional hub.
- Boutique executive search firms — small, polished, client-portal-focused.
- Contract / contingent staffing firms — placement-fee tracking, multi-currency support.
- Independent recruiters going from solo to 2-person partnership — the free tier is genuine, not a demo.
A decision matrix
Ask yourself these six questions before signing up to any ATS.
| Question | What the answer points to |
|---|---|
| Where are your clients located? | India / SE Asia → SohamRecruit fits well. US Fortune 500 → you need SOC 2; consider an enterprise in-house ATS. |
| What is your team size? | 2-20 → SohamRecruit. 20-100 → still fits but we are early. 100+ → enterprise in-house ATS. |
| Monthly software budget? | < $100/mo → SohamRecruit free / Starter. $100-500/mo → SohamRecruit Pro or budget AI-first. $500-2000/mo → modern mid-market. $2000+ → enterprise. |
| Most candidate intake via WhatsApp? | Yes → SohamRecruit is the clear pick. No → other options stay viable. |
| Need a polished client portal? | Yes → SohamRecruit or agency-focused legacy ATS. No → mid-market or AI-first is fine. |
| Need SOC 2 documentation today? | Yes → enterprise in-house ATS or a budget AI-first product with SOC 2. No → SohamRecruit. |
Closing
If you read this post and the picture of SohamRecruit you came away with is "small Indian-first ATS that is unusually cheap, with a real free tier, real WhatsApp, real client portal, but missing SOC 2 and native Stripe billing" — that is the accurate picture. We are not pretending to be a Greenhouse competitor for enterprise hiring. We are competing for the 2-to-20-seat small recruitment agency market, and we are honest about the gaps.
